Let’s figure it out.
Everything we get asked most. Can't find it? Contact support.
General
What is Pronto?
A self-improvement app that puts daily habits, diet tracking, workouts and runs, a schedule, to-do lists, Screen Time limits, and long-term goals in one place. Pronto, the penguin, is the AI assistant built into it. You can talk or type to him and he'll do things in the app for you.
Who is Pronto?
Pronto is the assistant in the app. He can create and edit habits, log food, add events and to-dos, log workouts and runs, adjust Screen Time minutes, and answer questions about what you've logged. Chef Pronto is his food-logging mode inside the Diet tab.
Which devices are supported?
iPhone only right now, from the App Store. Some features (Screen Time limits, GPS runs, step counts) need a real iPhone and don't work in a simulator or on iPad.
Is the app free?
Yes. There is no charge to download or use it today. If optional paid features launch later, they'll be clearly labeled and handled through Apple's App Store billing.
Account and sign in
How do I sign in?
Sign in with Apple, Google, or email and password. Whichever you pick, we'll ask for a display name the first time. Pronto uses it to greet you and it shows on your profile.
Why was my display name rejected?
Names are checked for offensive words and length (up to 40 characters). Pick something else and try again.
I signed in with Apple and my name is blank.
Apple only shares your name the very first time you use Sign in with Apple with an app, and never if you chose to hide it. That's why we ask you to type a name yourself. You can change it any time under Profile.
How do I delete my account?
Profile > Settings > Delete Account. This removes your account, habits, food diary, workouts, runs, schedule, lists, photos, and chat history with Pronto, and revokes your Apple or Google sign-in link. It cannot be undone. If you can't get into the app, request deletion here.
Can I export my data?
Not yet. A JSON/CSV export is on the roadmap. Until then, email support@prontoproductivity.com and we'll send you a copy of your data.
Habits, streaks, and goals
What's the difference between a daily and a weekly habit?
A daily habit resets every morning. A weekly habit has one loose total for the whole week (say, 8 hours of studying) and its progress carries over Sunday through Saturday. Weekly habits don't count toward your daily streak.
What is a linked habit?
A habit that fills itself in from another part of the app. Examples: Log a Workout completes when you finish a workout, Hit Your Protein Goal tracks today's logged protein, Reach Daily Step Goal reads your steps from Apple Health, Log All Three Meals counts breakfast, lunch, and dinner as you log them, and Log Your Weight completes when you weigh in.
My linked habit isn't updating.
Make sure the habit is scheduled for today (check its repeat days) and that the source has permission. Steps need Health access, and runs need Location. If it's still stuck, force-quit the app and reopen it, then tell us which habit and what you logged.
How do streaks work?
Your streak counts consecutive days where every scheduled daily habit was completed or skipped. Weekly habits are left out. One missed day breaks it.
What are Long-Term Goals?
Big targets with a deadline, like 100 workouts by June or 500 miles this year. Link habits to a goal and their daily progress adds up automatically. You can also log progress on the goal directly.
Diet and Chef Pronto
How do I log food by describing it?
Open the Diet tab and tap the Chef Pronto button (the penguin in a chef hat). Type what you ate in plain words, like "two eggs, toast with butter, and a 12 oz Red Bull." Chef Pronto breaks it into items with calories and macros and shows a card. Nothing is saved until you tap Log on that card, so check it first.
Chef Pronto asked me a question instead of logging.
That's on purpose. When a detail changes the numbers a lot (can size, restaurant vs homemade), he asks instead of guessing. Answer in the chat and he'll finish.
Chef Pronto said "that one ran long" or gave an error.
Long lists with several brand names take multiple web searches. Split it into two messages, or log one meal at a time. If you keep seeing errors, send us the exact message.
How accurate are the calorie estimates?
They're estimates. For named restaurants and brands, Chef Pronto looks up the company's published nutrition facts and tells you when he did. For homemade food he uses general knowledge. Always treat the numbers as a guide, not a lab result, and edit anything that looks off before you log it.
Can I scan a barcode?
Yes. In the Diet tab, tap Add Food and choose the barcode scanner. Camera permission is needed for this.
How do I change my calorie or macro goals?
Diet tab > gear icon. You can set calories, protein, carbs, fat, sugar, and caffeine goals, or ask Pronto, for example "raise my protein goal by 20 grams."
Workouts and runs
How do I start a workout?
Workout tab > pick a saved workout or a template (by time, body area, and equipment), then tap Start. Log each set's weight and reps live. The app shows what you did last time and calls out new personal records.
Can I log a workout I did yesterday?
Yes. Workout tab > menu > Log a Past Workout, pick the date and the workout.
How does run tracking work?
Runs use your iPhone's GPS to measure distance and pace. Allow Location access when asked. Keep the app open or your phone unlocked during the run for the most accurate track.
My run distance looks wrong.
GPS accuracy drops indoors, in dense buildings, or with Low Power Mode on. Try again outside with Low Power Mode off. If the numbers are still way off, let us know with the date of the run.
Schedule and to-do lists
Does the schedule sync with Apple Calendar?
Yes, one way. Turn it on in the Schedule tab and events you create in the app are pushed to Apple Calendar. Changes made in Apple Calendar do not come back into the app.
Can Pronto find free time for me?
Yes. Ask something like "when am I free for an hour tomorrow afternoon?" and he checks your schedule.
What kinds of lists can I make?
Three: plain to-do lists, shopping lists (each item can have a link and a cost), and recipes (ingredients plus numbered steps). Press and hold any item to edit it.
Why did my completed to-dos disappear?
Completed items on a plain to-do list clear out the next day. Turn on Save Completed Items in the list's settings to keep them, which is the default for shopping lists and recipes.
Screen Time limits
Why does the app ask for Screen Time access?
To set daily limits on other apps, Apple requires the Family Controls permission. Without it, the Screen Time tab can't lock anything.
Can the app or Pronto see what apps I use?
No. Apple keeps that private even from us. The app never receives your app list or usage numbers. The Today's Usage screen is drawn by iOS itself. Pronto can only change the minutes on a limit you already created.
The limit didn't kick in.
Make sure Screen Time access is allowed and the limit has at least one app selected. Limits re-arm at midnight. Some iOS versions have known bugs with counting time already used today, so a brand-new limit can take a day to behave. If it's still wrong after that, report it with your iOS version.
Privacy and data
What data do you collect?
Only what the app needs to work: your account (name, email, sign-in ID) and the things you log. The Privacy Policy lists every category.
Are my chats with Pronto private?
Your messages are sent to Anthropic's Claude API through our server to generate replies. They are not used to train AI models. Recent chat history is kept in your account so Pronto remembers context, and it's deleted with your account.
Does the app use Apple Health data?
Only to read your step count for the steps habit, and only if you allow it. We never write to Health, never sell health data, and never use it for ads.
How do I report a bug?
Open a ticket and include what you did, what you expected, what happened, and your iPhone model and iOS version. Screenshots help a lot.
